If you’re a fan of Softdisk’s old DOS blaster Hovertank 3D, you might be interested to know that a successor by the name of Abrams Tank is soon coming to Steam, courtesy of HardDisk Productions. While very clearly based on the 1991 original, Abrams Tank is set to feature new visuals, 20 brand new missions and the same brand of high-speed blasting action.
For those of you unfamiliar with Hovertank 3D, the game is an early first-person shooter that holds quite a significant place in history as it was one of the early works of id Software. The company founded by John Romero and John Carmack would later go on to revolutionise and define the genre with Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake.
The game hasn’t yet hit release and no date or price has been announced, but the game’s Steam store page can be found here.
