The brains behind many classic LucasArts adventures, Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick, are back – and they’re bringing a project to Kickstarter. The new project Thimbleweed Park is a retro-styled point-and-click adventure, and is backed up by a crowdfunding campaign which includes humorous tiers such as the $25 guilt absolution special for players who pirated Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island as kids.
The campaign page itself describes the game as follows: “Thimbleweed Park is the curious story of two washed up detectives called in to investigate a dead body found in the river just outside of town. It’s a game where you switch between five playable characters while uncovering the dark, satirical and bizarre world of Thimbleweed Park.” It’s clearly hit the mark with players, who have pledged over $200,000 of the requested $375,000 in just two days.
