With Gamescom 2026 looming over us, it comes as no surprise that Alien: Isolation 2 fans are hopeful they’ll see a release date at the big event – but they shouldn’t hold their breath.
Developer Creative Assembly and publisher Sega are apparently not planning to unveil the long-awaited sequel’s release date next week during the annual gaming event, as per their response to a fan’s excitement over on Twitter.
The original post shows somebody exclaim that they “hope we get a release date next week,” to which the official Alien: Isolation 2 account replies, “Hello, you won’t get a release date next week.”
It’s short (not sweet, sadly), but it does provide all folks need to know, I suppose: there’ll be no launch date reveal during Gamescom. Thankfully, the fan who initially posted in the first place is taking the news well, though.
They simply write, “Thank you for letting us know!” The Alien: Isolation 2 team says “you’re welcome” in turn – so, all in all, it’s not a bad interaction or anything… it’s just disappointing.

As one fan jokes in the comments, it was “worth a try” regardless. That checks out, seeing as Alien: Isolation 2 has been in the works for at least a little while now, with its first footage having aired as part of the Summer Game Fest 2026 schedule earlier this summer.
It wouldn’t be too surprising, then, to see people expecting a release date (or, at the least, a release window) to drop soon… but, alas, it won’t be in August, anyway.
Here’s hoping Creative Assembly and Sega give us another teaser of sorts, however – it’s still possible, seeing as they only confirm they won’t be showcasing a release date during this year’s Gamescom.
Anything more than a quick sneak-peek at a xenomorph’s mouth would be great at this point, as the original Alien: Isolation landed way back in 2014. I know I’ll be keeping my own fingers crossed over the next few days.
