It’s official: Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will be released physically alongside the digital launch on April 8, 2027. The game’s launch is coming well before Sony’s planned 2028 cutoff for physical PlayStation discs, but director Naoki Hamaguchi had previously been cagey on the topic of a physical release. Yet I guess there was no reason to worry.

Square Enix confirmed the news in a tweet. “The promise has been made,” the post begins. “Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches both physically and digitally on April 8, 2027.” That line about a “promise” is certainly intended as a tagline referring to the end of the trilogy, but it has an extra air of sincerity for collectors who’ve already added the first two parts to their shelves.

There’s one big caveat for Nintendo collectors, however. As with previous releases of the remake trilogy on Switch 2, this one will come on a game-key card. Can’t win them all, I guess.
