Bournemouth, UK is probably best known for its stunning beaches, ornamental gardens and being the home of Retro Gamer Magazine. It is now also home to a brand new retro gaming event, and the inaugural Retropocalypse will be held at The Four Horsemen public house on Saturday 13th August 2016. RetroCollect will be supporting this new venture along with gaming sites Noah’s Arcade and The Dreamcast Junkyard; and we hope to turn this popular town centre watering hole into a veritable cornucopia of gaming lovliness for one day and night only. Visitors to Retropocalypse can expect a wide range of classic and modern systems to play on, and as The Four Horsemen is a fully licensed pub, you’ll also find a well-stocked bar should you require refreshment in between rounds of Street Fighter or Bomberman. This is the first time Bournemouth has hosted a dedicated retro event and so this won’t be on the scale of some of the other UK events – indeed, hiring out an enourmous venue like the Bournemouth International Centre crossed our minds…but if only 3 people turned up it’d feel a bit empty. Feng Shui and all that.

If you’re in the Bournemouth area on Saturday 13th August, feel free to come along to The Four Horsemen pub on Commercial Road for some gaming fun. The event runs from midday until late and there’ll be a range of games and systems for you to try; from Sega Saturns and Megadrives, to Neo-Geos and 3DOs. For further information, please follow the links below. Lastly, in case anyone asks – the image above features the London skyline because using an image of a picturesque beach wouldn’t really have conveyed the same apocalyptic aesthetic. Just so you know.
