The Sinking City 2 statue puzzle solution

August 24, 2026 / admin / retro news

The Sinking City 2 statue puzzle sees you shooting arms on a statue according to a Cryptic Riddle listing vague descriptions of what it’s holding. It’s one of the more obscure puzzles in the game, as the descriptions and items don’t entirely match 100%, and every time you make a mistake it resets. So there can be a lot of trial and error as you test things out. If you want to just get it done, I don’t blame you – I’ve completed and it wasn’t a satisfying win, so take what I’ve learned and get it cleared.

The solution to the statue puzzle is to shoot the arms in the right order, as shown in the image above. These limbs appear after placing the red Heart of Stone in the chest cavity, holding carvings that match the clues in the Cryptic Riddle you find in the safe, along with the Heart of Stone:

  1. Woman on knees (‘mother’s prayer’)
  2. Octopus (‘the sea’)
  3. Monster on Pedestal (‘god to bend the knee’)
  4. Hourglass (‘time’)
  5. Leyden Jar (‘hold the spark’)
The Sinking City 2 walkthroughs

This is a big game with a lot of backtracking and exploring so use our Sinking City 2 walkthrough to help you with the first area in the game and the Sinking City 2 Hospital walkthrough for what’s after that.

So once you’ve placed the Heart of Stone in the Statue you’ll need to shoot the arms/carvings they’re holding in this order, one at a time – if you get it wrong at any point you’ll take damage and the Statue will reset, regrowing all it’s arms back. However, once you’ve shot all the carvings correctly, the remaining arms and the entire statue will crumble away, leaving behind a now blue Heart of Ice.

Once you have this new blue heart, you need to take it all the way down down to the Cold Storage area on -1F that you should have explored earlier and already seen another version of the statue. You’ll have to fight a Deep One that ambushes you when you reach the statue, so make sure you’re ready for a fight when you go there. It won’t follow you out of the Cold Storage door so you can kite it towards the exit and shoot it from just outside in relative safety.

When it’s dead and the way ahead is clear, place the blue Heart of Ice in the statue’s chest and you’ll be able to take the final Leyden Jar you need to enter the ship.
