Last week’s Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 showcase saw the reveal of The Witcher 3 Remastered, a reworked take on CD Projekt Red’s original 2015 RPG – and excited fans don’t need to worry about losing their decade-old progress, apparently.

Developers reveal as much in a new post over on X, explaining that all of our saves from The Witcher 3 will, in fact, carry over to the remaster coming later this month.

“We’ve seen your questions about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered,” it reads. “Good news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can get back on the Path right where you left off.”

Good news indeed, especially for those of us with hundreds of hours clocked in-game.

That’s not all, either. Apparently, all of our unlocked achievements (or trophies, for all you PlayStation 5 enjoyers) will still be unlocked in The Witcher 3 Remastered – no need to spend ages grinding Gwent cards and the like again.

As CD Projekt Red says, “Your unlocked achievements and trophies will carry over too!” I’m thrilled, personally, and I’m evidently not alone, with folks commenting that this is “great to hear.”

Some people, however, do wish they could redo it all – because of course they do. As various other replies highlight, a lot of fans want to “100%” The Witcher 3 once more… which makes sense, I suppose, when you consider just how good the original RPG is.

As grueling a task completing everything again might be, I can see why players would want to. Heck, I have nearly 1,000 hours in the game on PC alone myself.

Regarding what The Witcher 3 Remastered brings to the table that we’ve not yet seen, there’s everything from “improved combat” to overhauled visuals to look forward to.

There’s also CD Projekt Red’s new DLC for the RPG, Songs of the Past, and, of course, The Witcher 4, to anticipate. It’s a better time than ever to be a fan of the Polish studio’s lineup of games, I’d say – I know I certainly am, and I can’t wait for it all to release.
