A new patch for the World of Warcraft: Forever Beta is upon us, bringing everything from the new City of Dalaran dungeon to various class changes – but it’s not exactly landing well with all of the MMO’s early players, it seems.
The World of Warcraft: Forever patch notes outline a lot, and that’s a bit of an understatement – we’re entering the fourth week of the Beta, after all.
You’ll find them over on Blizzard’s official forums, beginning with bug fixes and leading into a plethora of class changes which are, unsurprisingly, stirring quite the storm in the community. The first point of contention has to do with looting, however.
As the WoW: Forever patch notes read, “This build reintroduces Classic looting behavior, where creatures that dropped no loot can still be interacted with.” In other words, enemies are now professional time wasters as you can interact with them whether or not they have loot.
To say the least, it’s pretty annoying – and I’m not alone in thinking so. Over on a Reddit thread on Patch 5.01, one person simply asks, “Why?”

They continue: “I mean, what purpose does this have beyond ‘it’s how it was?’ Is it just masochism from thinking you got a quest item?”
Honestly, I get it. It’s already confusing folks, too, with another commenter saying, “I found it mildly annoying/confusing at first when I killed a mob and I couldn’t loot it. Took me a bit to realize what was going on.” Perhaps this is one thing they should’ve axed from the original game.
Players are also unhappy with the new World of Warcraft: Forever class changes – and lack thereof. It’s looking especially rough for Rogue fans specifically, with one reply joking, “Sick Rogue changes” (spoiler alert: there are none).
Caster classes like the Druid, Priest, and Shaman do see tweaks – but they’re apparently, uh, not the greatest. “They’re committed to making casters feel bad at low levels,” as one fan amusingly puts it.
For example, Blizzard has adjusted the Shaman’s Lightning Bolt and its “base points and points per level of ranks 1-5” so as “to make the growth rate of ranks 1-6 more consistent, and new ranks always an upgrade” – but it feels like a non-change.
As one fan writes, there are “0 meaningful changes” in reality. All in all, it feels like the developers opted to nerf lower, currently preferable ranked skills than “making the higher ranks better.”
It’s worth a browse through the full World of Warcraft: Forever patch notes to see it all for yourself if you’re interested, but something tells me Blizzard might be delivering even more changes following fan feedback soon.
