Diablo 4’s 15th season, Season of Hell’s Legacy, is officially live following a brief delay apparently caused by server issues.
Blizzard fully lifted the lid on Season of Hell’s Legacy during BlizzCon 2026, showing off a nostalgic seasonal questline celebrating the entire history of the Diablo series coinciding with its 30th birthday—and confirming a September 15 release date. It’s definitely one of the meatiest seasons so far for Diablo 4, so it’s not a huge surprise that players had been reporting server issues all day today, leading Blizzard to delay it altogether without confirming a new time/date. Well, thankfully that turned out to be a brief delay, as Blizzard has announced that Season of Hell’s Legacy is officially live “now.”
I have also logged in and created a character in the Seasonal realm without issue. It is worth noting, however, that Solo Self Found mode has been temporarily disabled and there’s no known timeline for its return.
In advance of the new Amazon class next year, Diablo 4 is whisking players off all the way back to the series’ roots with a new seasonal activity called Waking Nightmares, which are essentially quests recreating the most iconic boss fights in the series’ history. Longtime players will appreciate the return of beloved characters like Deckard Cain as well as some less beloved but equally familiar faces like Mephisto, Baal, and at long last, Diablo himself as Diablo 4’s long-awaited final, final boss.
There is something of a horned elephant in the room with Diablo 5 having been announced at BlizzCon and the implications for Diablo 4. And yes, Blizzard has confirmed there will be no more full-blown Diablo 4 expansions as it turns to focus on Diablo 5, but it has also confirmed that seasonal updates like this one will continue to drop for the foreseeable future.
