First Project Y Footage Unveiled

March 5, 2015 / admin / retro news

It’s been a long time coming, as we first saw screenshots of the game way back in January of last year, but we’ve finally seen footage of Watermelon’s forthcoming Mega Drive beat-’em-up Project Y – and it looks astonishing. The game displays large, colourful sprites and extremely detailed backgrounds throughout the video, while the music appears to be what will be used for the game in some form. Take a look at the video above and see for yourself!

Project Y has been in the works since 2012 and is still without a set price or release date, but apparently entered beta testing in August 2014. However, Watermelon has been recently been busying itself with the HD re-release of previous title Pier Solar, as well as the new Mega Drive horror adventure Sacred Line. For more information on Project Y itself, make sure to visit its page on Watermelon’s Magical Game Factory.

If you noticed a strong Streets Of Rage feeling to the visuals of Project Y, you’re not the only one. While you’re waiting for the new game to drop, why not read about the making of Sega’s Mega Drive classic? You can get the whole story in Retro Gamer issue 133, available physically via ImagineShop.co.uk and digitally via GreatDigitalMags.com.
