Hideo Kojima has revealed that John Wick 4 and Nosferatu actor Bill Skarsgård will be the lead in his upcoming Metal Gear spiritual successor Physint.
Appearing at the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast, Hideo Kojima gave development updates on both of his upcoming titles for Xbox Game Studios. OD is “steadily taking shape” as performance capture continued this year following the SAG Aftra strike. As for Physint – which Xbox acquired last week after Sony cancelled the game – Kojima said “the project continues to make steady progress.”
Kojima calls Physint, “the culmination of more than 40 years of my career: a project that will redefine ‘action espionage,’ unbound by any existing genres in digital entertainment. With Kojima claiming he realised he should make a game like Metal Gear Solid while he was sick during the Covid-19 pandemic.
While we already knew Charlee Fraser, Don Lee (also known as Ma Dong-seok) and Minami Hamabe had been cast in the game, Kojima revealed that the game’s lead character would be portrayed by Skarsgård. Kojima explains “we are both long-time fans of each others’ work, and we’ve decided to embark on this new adventure together.
This is a developing story… more to follow…
