New Sega 3D Classics Revealed

We’ve really enjoyed Sega’s 3D Classics range on Nintendo 3DS, and we’re pleased to see that three of the Mega Drive’s greatest hits are on their way to the eShop this summer. The classic beat-’em-up Streets Of Rage II will be the first to arrive in July 2015, followed by Treasure’s technically masterful run-and-gun Gunstar Heroes in August. The crown jewel is Sonic The Hedgehog 2, arguably the best of the classic platform series, which will be launching in September. Each game is priced at £4.49 (€4.99/$5.99).

Sega is promising that all three games will feature new modes and features, to enable players to enjoy a new experience with each. This is consistent with previous entries in the series, which have scored highly in Retro Gamer in recent months – 3D After Burner II received 90% in issue 139, and 3D OutRun will be reviewed in issue 141. Two more previously announced arcade titles are due for launch in the coming weeks, with 3D Fantasy Zone II expected tomorrow and 3D Thunder Blade hitting on May 14th.
