Now that it is time for students to go back to school, a feature on NewsWatch with Scott Steinberg, technology expert, highlights some interesting learning applications, which are now available on Intel® Atom™ tablets for Android*. Students of all ages can enjoy these six apps that encourage organizing, critical thinking, or even relaxing.

The segment showcases the learning app LectureNotes by Acadoid, which is next-level, note-taking technology that lets users take notes on their tablets, organize by subject, import images and share with other users. A nice complement to this is the Montano E-book Reader that allows for textbooks to be downloaded, highlighted and commented on, even featuring an audio option for listening. Offering a fun approach to language acquisition, Duolingo is a game-style app that breaks vocabulary building, writing and speaking into short, high-impact exercises.

For more visual orientation, Steinberg describes Paperama by FDG Entertainment, an origami application that shows easy, step-by-step instructions on how to create delicate figures out of paper. Instaframe by IU apps is a photo collage tool for designing sharp presentations. And for downtime, Geometry Dash by Rob Top Games is a fun, fast-paced retro game with great graphics and sound effects.

The video-feature points out that this sampling of apps is optimized for Intel® Atom™ Processor-based tablets for Android* and can provide students of all ages with interesting learning or entertainment options.

The NewsWatch feature aired on August 28, 2014 on the History Channel and can be viewed on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKVQX_1iSSg
