Wonderland Dizzy Has Been Released!

Gaming’s most heroic egg is back in action, as the Oliver twins released Wonderland Dizzy for the NES this weekend. The long-lost game failed to see release twice in the Nineties – first as a NES game for the Aladdin Deck Enhancer, and secondly after it was cut from the Excellent Dizzy Collection on Game Gear. The game ended up going into the loft until earlier this year, when the Oliver twins dug out a map that had been intended for the game at Play Expo in Blackpool. After finding that they still had the full NES source and remembering that they hadn’t actually ended up releasing it, they enlisted the help of Polish coder Lukasz Kur to turn it into a playable game – and that’s now available to play in an emulator online, or for download for offline play.

You can see the reveal video below – it took place at the Centre For Computing History in Cambridge, at a launch event for a Kickstarter campaign. The campaign is looking for £20,000 to produce The Story Of The Oliver Twins, a book celebrating the careers of the popular designers.

Look for an interview with the Oliver twins in the next issue of Retro Gamer, detailing how the whole thing went down!
