Night Dive Studios is bringing Turok: Dinosaur Hunter and Turok 2: Seeds Of Evil back from extinction for a PC re-release, to be sold on a variety of platforms including Steam and GOG.com. The new releases are enhanced over the originals with 1080p widescreen support, and will run on modern machines.
If you’re unfamiliar with the games, they’re first-person shooters from 1997 and 1999, following the adventures of the titular Native American dinosaur hunter that gained fame in the world of comics. The first game was one of the earliest third-party N64 games and sold 1.5 million copies, and the sequel was similarly successful, again selling over a million copies. The series’ signature weapon is the Cerebral Bore, a nasty device which fires a homing drill at the enemy’s head. If the launched bore hits its target, the brain will be drilled through before a violent explosion decapitates the enemy. Nasty!
There’s no word on a date for the new releases yet, but here’s a couple of screens to tide you over.
