Earlier this week, Dreamcast owners were thrilled to learn about the discovery of an unreleased and seemingly complete game for the system – Millennium Racer: Y2K Fighters, a conversion of a futuristic racing game that originally appeared on the PC. The game was developed by Russian studio Creat Media and was to be published by Cryo Interactive. The conversion, barely mentioned to the press at the time, was found on a Katana development kit owned by Kuririn84, and adjustments were made by japanese_cake to get it working.
The game itself is a fairly unique proposition, with five-player races taking place on multi-tiered tracks, which allow players to jump between levels in order to find faster routes. It’s not visually spectacular, but it’s certainly a solid addition to the Dreamcast library and one which easily outshines the likes of POD 2 and Magforce Racing.
If you’d like to play the Dreamcast version of Millennium Racer: Y2K Fighters, japanese_cake has made the game available here.
