Resident Evil fan Rod Lima has put together a stunning example of how the 2002 remake of the original game could look if played from a first-person perspective – a look Capcom has adopted for the latest iteration in the series, Resident Evil VII: Biohazard.

In order to create this first-person experiment, which takes place from the perspective of STARS agent Jill Valentine, Rod Lima had to use 3D models of characters and the Spencer Mansion from the Wii game Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Animations and dialogue were taken directly from the Gamecube Resident Evil remake, first released in 2002.

While the fan has no plans to release his work, nor to create a complete version of it, this experiment serves as a fascinating glimpse at how Capcom’s survival horror classic would look from a different perspective – after all, the original game was meant to use a first-person view!
