Play Blackpool This Weekend – Arcade Machines, Talks & Tickets

Play Blackpool is this upcoming weekend: one of the largest Retro Gaming events takes over the Norbreck Castle Exhibition Centre in Blackpool this Bank Holiday, in one of the top days in the Retro Gaming Calendar.

In it’s second year back at the Norbreck, this event was stellar last year, with some great games to play, including some top indie games, as well as a large arcade area. So if you are undecided, we’d thought we’d use this week’s post to whet your appetite for the event.

Arcade Machines

Probably the biggest area that dominates large swathes of the event is the arcade area – for this area will have a lot of arcade machines. This year it promises not to disappoint, with Dig Dug, Galaxian, Virtua Fighter, Chase H.Q. all present this year. To find out what arcade machines are present, please read the Play Blackpool site.

Indie Games

Of course, there isn’t just arcade machines, but also indie games at Play Blackpool. This year as well as perennial favourites such as Minecraft, the most exciting thing as far as I’m concerned is the Grand Prix Experience with the F1 Simulator. As well as this, Play Award Winner Wulverblade, Theo & Lizzy, Gunnihilation and Meme Streak. As well as this, popular retro house Llamasoft will also be there.

Talks

As well as all the games, there’s also opportunities for Q&A and talks, with talks from The Oliver Twins (Dizzy), David Rowe (Knightmare) and Andrew Hewson (Paradroid).

And More!

As well as this, there’s also LAN gaming, traders, all sorts of consoles and computers. Tickets range from £13 for one day to £30 for the whole weekend, with discounts available to families and children. It’s a fantastic value for a whole day, so I’d recommend you attend.

If you aren’t attending, don’t worry! A wrap up post will be available next week.
