Set an alarm. Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition goes physical on Nintendo Switch 2 today, Friday November 6, and pre-orders open at 12:00 PM ET — exclusively through Limited Run Games, in partnership with Aspyr. This is the last piece of the Survivor Trilogy shelf: with Shadow on a cartridge, Lara’s whole reboot arc — 2013’s Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider and now the finale — exists as real, hold-it-in-your-hand Switch 2 releases. The window is generous but it is a window: orders close Sunday, December 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET, and when a Limited Run window closes, it closes.
At a glance: Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition — physical Nintendo Switch 2, Limited Run Games with Aspyr. Pre-orders open today, November 6, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET; close December 27, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Standard Edition $59.99; Collector’s Edition $99.99. Full game on the cartridge, all seven DLC challenge tombs included. No shipping date announced yet.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Switch 2 physical — what’s in each edition
The Standard Edition ($59.99) is the one most collectors actually need, and Limited Run has sweetened it beyond the usual bare cartridge:
- The full game on a physical Nintendo Switch 2 cartridge, in the official Switch 2 case
- A full-colour 8-page booklet
- A slipcover sized to hold all three Survivor Trilogy games together on the shelf
That slipcover is a small thing that is not a small thing. Trilogies sprawl. Spines mismatch. The third game arriving with the box that finally makes the set look like a set is exactly the kind of detail physical collectors notice — and exactly the kind you cannot buy later for love nor money once the window shuts.

The Collector’s Edition ($99.99) includes everything in the Standard Edition, then adds the display pieces:
- A collector’s outer display box
- A custom official SteelCase
- The Shadow of the Tomb Raider official soundtrack CD
- A premium replica of the Key of Chak Chel — the serpent-handled dagger Lara takes from the tomb at Cozumel, the theft that sets the whole apocalypse plot in motion
One warning, because it matters today of all days: some early announcement coverage pasted in the wrong Collector’s contents — a patch and a desk ornament that belong to a different game’s edition. The list above is Limited Run’s own, confirmed on its product pages and in its press release: SteelCase, soundtrack CD, display box, Key of Chak Chel replica. If a listing you’re reading says otherwise, it’s the listing that’s wrong.

Full game on the cartridge — and why that line does the heavy lifting
Three words are doing real work in this announcement: on the cartridge. In the Switch 2 era of key-cards and download codes wearing a box as a costume, Limited Run and Aspyr are putting the complete game on the card — no key-card monkey business, nothing essential waiting on a server. For a site with our name, we hardly need to explain why that matters, but here it is anyway: a cartridge with the game on it still works when the shop is a memory.

And “complete” here is genuinely complete. The Definitive Edition packages the base game with all seven DLC challenge tombs — The Forge, The Pillar, The Nightmare, The Price of Survival, The Serpent’s Heart, The Grand Caiman and The Path Home — plus the downloadable side missions, weapons, outfits and skills, and the two-player online co-op that several of those tombs support. There is no second purchase hiding behind this one. What you pre-order at noon is the whole of Shadow, finished, in a box.
The trilogy shelf, completed
Shadow is the third and final of Aspyr’s Switch 2 Survivor ports, and they’ve arrived at a clip: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition first, then Rise of the Tomb Raider, then Shadow itself shadow-dropping digitally on Switch 2 on October 22 for $39.99. Limited Run has been physicalising them in the same order — and if you’re building the set, your calendar has two dates on it, not one. Rise of the Tomb Raider‘s pre-order window is still open, but only until December 6. Order Shadow today and Rise before December 6 and the trilogy completes itself; miss the Rise date and you’re into resale prices for the middle volume of a three-book story.

Price honesty, because we do that here: the physical Standard at $59.99 is $20 more than the $39.99 digital version, and $10 more than the previous game’s $49.99 standard edition. What the extra buys is the cartridge itself, the booklet, and that trilogy slipcover. Whether a box and a booklet are worth twenty dollars is a question only your shelf can answer — but at least it’s a real product asking the question, not a download code in a trench coat.
What Shadow actually is, for the lapsed and the curious
Originally released in 2018 from Eidos-Montréal, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the finale of the Survivor Trilogy — the arc that rebooted Lara Croft in 2013 as a shipwrecked archaeology graduate and spent three games forging her into the Tomb Raider. Lara’s theft of the Key of Chak Chel hands the shadowy Trinity organisation its shot at remaking the world, and the race runs from Cozumel through the Peruvian jungle to Paititi, the legendary hidden city, ahead of a Maya apocalypse Lara herself set ticking.

Of the three Survivor games, Shadow is the tomb-raider’s Tomb Raider: less open combat, more stealth — Lara caked in mud, striking from the foliage like the jungle’s own apex predator — and the series’ best puzzle tombs, big clockwork rooms that reward you for looking up. It is also, thirty years on from Lara’s Saturn debut, a neat bookend for the anniversary year we’re in — we traced that first era in Tomb Raider at 30: The Saturn’s Finest Hour, and Shadow on a cartridge feels like the modern end of the same shelf.

The honest caveats before you order at noon
Two, and neither is hidden. First: no shipping date has been announced. Limited Run’s model is an open pre-order window followed by production, so this is not a Christmas-present plan — if a gift depends on it, buy the gift separately and let the cartridge be a 2027 treat. Second: the December 27 close is the real deadline, not the noon opening. Nothing here sells out at 12:01 PM; you have seven weeks. But seven weeks that include the holidays have a way of evaporating, and December 28th regret is a collector tradition nobody enjoys.
The trilogy that rebooted Lara Croft is, as of today, fully physical on Switch 2 — the finale on a real cartridge, every tomb included, with a slipcover to make the three spines behave. Pre-orders open at noon ET at Limited Run Games and close December 27 at 11:59 PM ET. Set the alarm, pick your edition — and if your Rise is still missing, December 6 is circled too.
